United Methodist Women
The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop creative supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.
There is a local unit of United Methodist Women in every district of the United Methodist Church. More than 260,000 local units comprise United Methodist Women.
Mary / Martha Circle
The Prospect UMC Mary / Martha group began in January 2005 and meets monthly in the lounge, usually on the last Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m. All women are very welcome to join us.
We chose the name Mary-Martha when we remembered the following story in Luke 10:38-42:
As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, "Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!"
"Martha, Martha," the Lord answered, "you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed — or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her."
Some of us in the group feel we're often more like Martha, moving from task to task. But we aim to be like Mary too, able also to be still and learn from Jesus.
At our meetings, we discuss women in the Bible as well as women in the world today. At the end of each meeting, we pray and give to a free-will offering. Members also give of their time and talents throughout the year. We hold a cookie sale in February and a bake sale in November. We support the missions of Crittenton Crises Center in Peoria, Imagine No Malaria, District United Methodist Women, Cunningham Children's Home in Urbana, Lessie Bates Neighborhood House in East St. Louis, and Chaddock Children's Home in Quincy.
United Methodist Men
"What a man needs is a brother to draw close, minister to him, and help him mature. He needs somebody to demonstrate to him another way to live, modeling a godly marriage, biblical parenthood, and the love of Christ."
The goal of the United Methodist Men is to help men grow in Christ, so others can know Christ. Men from Prospect meet the first Monday of the month for a light meal and devotions in the Fellowship Hall. Fundraising activities — parking cars at the Civic Center, hosting a garage sale, grilling hotdogs for Trunk or Treat and the Homecoming Parade — are completed throughout the year to generate money to provide scholarships for youth camping and mission trips.

Pot Luck LuncheonAt noon on the last Tuesday of each month, Prospect hosts a Pot luck luncheon in the Fellowship Hall. Attendees are asked to bring a dish to pass. Table service and drinks are provided. Please bring a friend and be ready to enjoy good food and fellowship.
