United Methodist Women: meet the last Monday of the month at 7:00 pm
The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop creative supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.
There is a local unit of United Methodist Women in every district of the United Methodist Church. The Prospect UMC Mary / Martha group began in January 2005 and meets monthly in the lounge, usually on the last Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m. All women are welcome to join us.
At our meetings, we discuss women in the Bible as well as women in the world today. At the end of each meeting, we pray and give to a free-will offering. Members also give of their time and talents throughout the year. We hold a cookie sale in February and a bake sale in November. We support the missions of Crittenton Crises Center in Peoria, Cunningham Children's Home in Urbana, Lessie Bates Neighborhood House in East St. Louis and Chaddock Children's Home in Quincy, IL.
United Methodist Men : meet the 1st Monday of the month at 6:00 pm
"What a man needs is a brother to draw close, minister to him, and help him mature. He needs somebody to demonstrate to him another way to live, modeling a godly marriage, biblical parenthood, and the love of Christ." — Steve Sonderman
The goal of the United Methodist Men is to help men grow in Christ, so others can know Christ. Men from Prospect meet the first Monday of the month for a light meal and devotions in the Fellowship Hall. Fundraising activities — hosting a garage sale, grilling hot dogs for Trunk or Treat and the Homecoming Parade — are completed throughout the year to generate money to provide scholarships for youth camping and mission trips.
