Chaddock Christmas

“Chaddock Share a Little Christmas” is our annual opportunity to provide Christmas gifts for the residential youth at Chaddock Children’s Home in Quincy, IL. Chaddock is one of five (non-profit) agencies supported by the Methodist Great Rivers Conference. These children (grade school age through teens) have experienced trauma and neglect in their young lives. The caring staff at Chaddock work with each child to create a “wish list” of first, second and third choice gifts…plus clothing sizes when possible. We provide Christmas to an average of 50 children each year.

Coats for Kids

Prospect UMC proudly partners with the Salvation Army every year to help provide new and gently used coats for all ages (infant through adult), as well as hats and gloves.  All of God’s children deserve to be warm and we are blessed with generous givers who support this mission.

School Snack Donations

PUMC is proud to be partnering again with Banner Grade School to help them provide breakfast bars and snacks to their students throughout the 2023-24 school year. A donation bin is set up at the Welcome Desk. If you would prefer to send in monetary donations, please make checks out to PUMC with “Banner Breakfast” on the memo line, and we will take care of purchasing.

Banner’s School’s Counselor sent me the following note:

Each passing year the needs seem to increase unfortunately. Like we discussed, we would gladly accept any snacks but we would love to have donations of “Nutrigrain” type bars to be available for the students. The reason we prefer these as an option is we do not serve breakfast in our building. Some students come in without anything in their belly and this type of bar can fill them up a bit and work for a breakfast or a snack option. I give each classroom a few boxes to keep on hand so that no one is hungry and the student is not singled out.

Highway Cleanup

PUMC is responsible for cleaning Cedar Hills Dr. from Knoxville/Rt. 40 to Bland Rd. (See map above.)

We need 6-10 people meeting in the Banner School parking lot at 8:00 a.m. for approximately 1 hour on the last Saturday of the month. Small groups are also welcome to sign up as a team to work at a different time to work with all schedules.

The county supplies the neon, reflective vests and trash bags; each person should bring working gloves and sturdy shoes. The cleanup works best if one person stays on the top portion of the ditch and one covers the lower part so no one has to walk up and down the steep ditch.

Highway Clean-up goes from May-October each year.
